Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab

This tablet PC boasts of a 10.1 inch Gorilla Glass display, one of the most durable displays out in the market. It also contains the newest Android operating System, the Honeycomb (Android 3.1) making it one of the most sought after devices on the tablet market. The best Android tablet available, the Galaxy is smaller, thinner and faster than the iPad 2. Perhaps the best all round tablet available.

Apple iPad 2

The newest tablet PC from apple, it has a 9.7 inch fingerprint resistant oleo phobic surface that rivals Samsung’s Gorilla Display interface. It runs on IOS 4 and has a 1 GHZ dual core ARM cortex 9 processor. But just like any other Apple device, the tablet does not support Flash, so say goodbye to those Flash-based movies or games on the web. Back camera is only 0.7 MP as well, with the secondary camera only capable of VGA support.

Motorola XOOM

Motorola has been known to make good hardware devices, and they didn’t fall short on this one as well. The tablet has a 10.1 inch display and has a higher pixel density than most tablet devices (150 pixels per inch). Also it also comes with an expandable micro SD slot, which allows storage capabilities of up to 96 GB. However, one thing that could be improved on this gadget is its extremely reflective coating, making it a nuisance if you use the device in direct sunlight.

Blackberry Playbook

Like most tablet PC’s, the Playbook runs on a 1 GHZ dual core Cortex CPU. It boasts high end cameras, having a 5 MP camera at the back and 3 MP in front. The Playbook is definitely the best business tablet PC on the market, highly secure with a solid build. The resolution is fantastic when viewing HD videos and it even has a HDMI out port so can be plugged into any HDMI-supported TV. It runs on the newest Blackberry Tablet OS by RIM and judging by the performance reviews, the interface is excellent. However, if it wants to compete out there with Android and IOS, more applications should be released as there are simply too few of them. Aside from this you also need a Blackberry Smartphone to take full advantage of all of its capabilities.

HP Touchpad

According to the specifications, this is one of the fastest tablets in the market, running on a 1.2 GHZ dual core processor. But performance analysts beg to differ. During field tests, it took forever to start an application and launching multiple applications takes even longer. One good feedback that it has received is its keyboard interface. In other tablets, you will have to switch screens in order for you to go to numbers and special characters. In this device, it has all been fitted into one screen.

Asus Transformer

This tablet has a distinct advantage among other tablet PCs mentioned above-it can transform (as the name implies), into a fully-fledged computer by attaching a physical keyboard to it. Aside from that, you also get extra battery power when you attach this dock on the main tablet. It also runs on the Honeycomb platform just like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, so the interface is excellent. However, there are some touchscreen issues when the device is docked, making it less responsive when using the keyboard. Additional applications are needed as well, although this is more of an Android problem than an ASUS one.
