Not waterproof, can’t go underwater, horrible, save up for a better camera! Water started leaking second day of use, I double checked everything was sealed, put on water mode, but still leaked into memory card! Returning back immediately! Don’t waste your money, save up for better camera! Reading some of the “unhappy” customer reviews regarding picture quality…it may depend on what “class” of SDHD memory card you are using. I read that Class 10 are the best to avoid blurring and “jumping” segments.

I’ve only used mine once underwater, and I was pleased with the video and pictures. I’m keeping my fingers crossed tho for using it in Hawaii! Aloha! It so it’s easy to use my 10 year old granddaughter picked the cam corder up and started using it.
I was leary of the quality but was completely surprised at the terrific underwater shots. The movies are sharp and clear. The still shots are great as well.
(Side note: took one picture to my camera club and got rave reviews!!!)
My only negative point is the sound under water, very strange. I’m a fan.I just purchased this camera a few weeks ago. I previously owned the zi3 and LOVED the portability of that camera. We have a Canon Rebel camera and another higher level video camera but to carry both and keep track of child, purse etc was a hassle. You certainly sacrifice quality in video and pictures when you use these pocket video cameras but for me it is so worth it in most occasions. The GE DV1 video camera is awesome! I cant tell you how much I love the waterproof feature. I read all the reviews for several brands prior to buying the GE and I was concerned that the waterproof feature would be faulty but I was glad to see that when tried out this weekend it worked beautifully! Some have said they had microphone issues after submerging the camera under water but I didnt have that either. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 for everything was that comparing this to the Kodak Zi3 the picture quality is less. The delay in the time between when you push the button to take the picture and when the actual shot is captured is pretty big so many of my pictures of fast moving kids are blurry or the moment I wanted was missed. It also has a lower quality indoors which I expected after reading the reviews. Compared to the Kodak Zi3 the picture quality is lower but so is the price…The video is about the same but the zoom is much smoother on the GE DV1. I have a professional camera for indoor shots. Since I use the portable DV1 camera when on the go, at a theme park, beach, pool etc I dont have to worry about poor quality indoor shots. The fact that I dont have to worry about it getting wet all the time makes this a great deal in my book. I would buy it again! Im very happy with my purchase. One last thing on the negative side, is the software. I read about this in other reviews as well but the software is horrible. If you really need a walk-you-through-it software program to transfer your photos and video from the camera then you shouldnt buy this product. My Kodak Zi3 had a much better user interface. I just chose to use other software for my photos/videos and if you are comfortable with that buy this camera. You cant go wrong! We bought this camera to be able to take underwater video in our pool. The quality of the pictures and videos are absolutely great for the price of the camera. Even with watching the videos on our TV, the quality is great. Yes it’s limited with zoom and focus, but overall we are extremely pleased with this purchase. I thought this little camera would be just what I was looking for………..it did not live up to all of the hype I read about it. It is not that easy to use, and the video and picture quality if not very good. The sound……….what sound? You can hardly hear anything! I would not buy again. I do not recommend!
